HR Defenders

On the occasion of the 70thanniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), nine human rights defenders shared their experiences and the challenges of their work via a series of interviews. They revealed their concerns relating to social change and possibilities of transnational alliances of social movements, a critical reflection on (dis-)continuities of postcolonialism(s) in legal systems as part and challenge of their work, and a focus on empowerment through the various feminism(s) used as a critical lens to unmask existing systems of power. An emphasis consisted in specific challenges emerging from migration, forced displacement, enforced disappearances, torture and violations of social, economic and cultural rights. The exhibition was realized in October 2018.
